The new kid on the block

The first blog! Thanks for taking the time to read it. I want to introduce Milk It and tell you a little bit more about why I do what I do…

Milk It was founded in 2021 by me, Rachel Thompson, on the back of a global pandemic. I was on maternity leave with my second child and with my eldest starting school in September and a husband with unreliable working hours, I just couldn’t see how I was going to make it work with my current job, and a 75-minute commute to Manchester (and back!) every day.

I’d toyed with the idea of being self-employed before but I wasn’t quite ready to take the plunge. Then, one evening on a virtual book club call (that is so 2020), I listened to a friend who owns a successful local business talking about outsourcing some parts of her job in order to free up more time to do the things that made the money. She outsourced a variety of things and when she was talking, it occurred to me that I could, and have done, all of them. The wheels began turning.

One of the only good things to come out of the pandemic for many of my friends, peers and colleagues had been a better work/life balance. Having more time to spend with family; not having the daily commute, being able to get out each day for our exercise allowance. And this is how Milk It would help people. By taking on some of your work; the kind of work that can hold you back, I could free up your time to do more of… whatever you wanted.

The idea was taking shape and before I knew it, I was writing this blog and launching my business!

I’ve already got so many ideas about the business so I’m excited to see what the future holds!

I hope to hear from you soon.

Rachel
